The Jan Hus Congregational Church in Botanicka street in Brno, one of the first modern sacred buildings in the former Czechoslovakia, was constructed in 1929 according to Jan Visek's design. Along with the Czechoslovak Hussite Church meeting-house a magnificent lounge was built.
Time passed and after the war its First Republic elegance started to fade.
During the 1970's the Brno Civil Engineering Labour Union Club made the
premises its home. The lounge underwent technical improvements and a traditional
musical programme began to alternate with film projections.

fridge shop episode, a more dignified era began – a traditional billiards
club moved in.
Also the adjacent vestibule with a canteen where pubs of different styles had
been run over the years was put back to its original shape by removing all
extensions and extras.
The Avia Cafe restaurant was born. It is a place you will either adore or never
visit again. We hope that many of you will fall in love with it the same way we
did – at first sight.
